Sergeant Major Jerry L. Glesemann, USA, Retired

SGM Jerry L. Glesmann was born in Silverton, Oregon.  He enlisted in the Army National Guard in December of 1986.  He joined the Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) program in January of 1990.  He has two and a half years of College at Southern Oregon State College and is working towards a Bachelors of Art Degree in Emergency management.  As a civilian, SGM Glesmann worked as a farm hand in the late 80’s before entering the AGR program.  He is the President and life member of the National Infantry Association (Sunset Chapter), President and a life member in the Association of the United States Army (Columbia River Chapter), Life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, a member of the National Realtor Association and a member of the Oregon Realtor Association.

Jerry’s assignments included serving in all enlisted positions in an Infantry Platoon, HHC and Alpha Company 2-162 Infantry Battalion; Squad Leader/Platoon Sergeant, A CO 2-162 Infantry Battalion; Recruiter, Charlie Company 1-186 Infantry Battalion; Battalion Operations Sergeant, HHC 2-162 Infantry Battalion; Assistant BDE Operations Sergeant; 41 Infantry Brigade Combat Team; Team Sergeant for US Embedded Training Teams in Iraq and Afghanistan(1st CAV Div and 1st INF Div); Senior Operations Sergeant, Joint Forces Headquarters; Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, 82 BDE (TC); Camp Withycombe acting Post CSM and Joint Operations (J3) Sergeant Major, Joint Operation Center, Oregon.  After Retirement Jerry worked for the Historical Outreach Foundation and assisted with the BG James B. Thayer Oregon Military Museum as the Exhibit Manager among other duties.  He is currently working as a Real Estate Broker for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Real Estate Professionals as an independent Real Estate Broker.

His tours include Operation Iraqi Freedom II, Hurricane Katrina/Rita Operation Southern Relief, United Nations Global Peace Operations Initiative (Mongolia), Operation Enduring Freedom, two wild land fire fighting seasons and seven other oversea training missions.

He is married to a beautiful lady, Sonya, and they have a blended family of 5 children (3 boys and 2 girls) along with an additional 5 children that call them Mom and Dad.  They are blessed to have 9 grandkids.  They live in the great State of Oregon, which they are both native Oregonians.  Sonya grew up in the town of Cottage Grove, OR.
