From the Host Chapter President - February 1, 2019

The Petry Chapter, AUSA is honored to serve as the host chapter for the 2019 spring meeting for the Sixth Region, AUSA.  The meeting is being held on Camp San Luis Obispo, California 05-06 April 2019, with travel dates of 04 and 07 April 2019.  The administrative notes are as follows;

Billeting/Host Hotel:

Sands Inn and Suites, 1930 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, California (888-347-2319) (http://www.sandssuites.com) and, reservations should be made by calling the hotel directly and mentioning you are attending the “AUSA meeting.”

Activities/Agenda:

Thursday, 4 April

5:00PM,  No host reception at the Veterans’ Memorial Bldg, 801 Grand Ave, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 (805-781-5901) (http://www.vetmuseum.org/heavy hors d’oeuvres, coffee/tea/lemon aid/water.  Cost; $12 per person

Friday, 5 April

8:30AM,  Depart hotel for the Hearst Castle and activities (via AUSA vans/POVs).  Reservations MUST be made, and payments received not later than 22 March.  This is not an option – it’s the start of tourist season and group tickets at a reduced rate of $31 per person are a challenge.

Along with the Heart Castle tours, there’ll be opportunities to visit at least one winery, and the (now world famous) viewing of the Elephant Seals and their pups.  Lunch will be $12 per person, and it’ll include sandwiches, chips, fruit, drink. 

SGM Dan Sebby, California Military Department’s Military History Detachment, will be on hand to provide the historical military overview of the coastal defenses from the WWII era.

Returning to the LTG Herbert R. Temple Center, Camp San Luis Obispo.  Area dinner opportunities will be available. Cost for hors d’oeuvres and appetizers, $12.00 person.

Saturday, 6 April, Spring Meeting, LTG Herbert R. Temple Center, Camp SLO.

0730,Continental breakfast service, coffee/juices/water, fruit, pastries.  Cost $9 per person.

Lunch will be “grill your own” BBQ hamburgers or chicken, with trimmings, soft drinks chips etc at a cost of $9.00 per person.

Dinner will be at 6:30 PM, preceded by a no host cocktail reception.  Dinner, catered buffet style will be Chicken Cordon Bleu or Bacon Wrapped Beef Tenderloin (red roasted potatoes, green salad, green beans, dinner rolls) at a cost of $25 per person.
